- Binformed is you, your friends and neighbors.
- It’s a website that allows you to track what’s happening in your community. You provide the content!
- Registered Binformed Users provide information (text and photos) in the form of Entries about Neighborhoods they’ve created (Neighborhoods are defined by Zip Codes). Other Users and Visitors are encouraged to view those Entries and post Responses.
- Binformed also is an excellent source of information for persons visiting any area of the United States. Learn about the area from the persons who live there.
- Neighborhoods basically are homepages that you, the User, create based on your home Zip Code.
- A Neighborhood allows you to provide content that you have created specifically for your communities. That content is available for anybody to view.
- Let’s say that you live in Anytown, Ohio and want to create a Neighborhood.
- Just click on Create a Neighborhood and follow the simple instructions.
- Binformed will ask you to enter the Zip Code for your Neighborhood (the default Zip Code will be the one associated with you User registration – only registered Users can create Neighborhoods).
- You’ll then be asked to name your Neighborhood – in this case, Anytown.
- Users can create multiple Neighborhoods for a single Zip Code – maybe a User already has created a Neighborhood called Anytown for your Zip Code, but you want to create one for your block. Go ahead and create the Smith Street Neighborhood for the same Zip Code!
- After you’ve created a Neighborhood, you and other Users can create Entries for that Neighborhood.
- Each time you visit Binformed, you can go directly to your Neighborhood by entering your Zip Code in the “What’s New in My Neighborhood” box. The site will prompt you to choose a Neighborhood from the list of Neighborhoods associated with that Zip Code.
- When you visit your Neighborhood page, you’ll see all of the latest User-created Entries that are specific to your community.
- You’ll notice that your Neighborhood will be displayed next to a City name. A Neighborhood is automatically associated with a specific City in Binformed’s database (for example, Anytown might be associated with Cleveland).
- Entries let you and other members of your community know what’s going on in your Neighborhood.
- They are information (and pictures) that you and other Users create for your Neighborhoods.
- Just click on Create an Entry and follow the simple instructions (only registered Binformed Users can create Entries).
- During the creation process, you’ll be asked to name your Entry. Binformed also will ask you to provide a brief description of the Entry. This helps Users get a quick sense of the contents of your Entry.
- You’ll also need to supply a few keywords, or “Tags,” that describe the Entry. Tags aid the search process.
- When you create an Entry, you choose a particular Category for that Entry (for example, News, Sports, Arts and Entertainment) and a particular Topic within that Category.
- You can create as many Entries as you like.
- You can update each of your Entries as often as you want using the Post function. Each Post to your Entry also will have a title.
- Other registered Binformed Users can respond to your Entries using the Response function.
- Binformed has a View My Entries function that allows you to track all of your Entries.
- You also can track other Users’ Entries through the View My Favorites feature.
- Please remember that Binformed will delete any Entries that it deems are inappropriate for any reason.
- Binformed contains a powerful search engine.
- You can search by any combination of City, Category, Keyword or Zip Code from the Binformed homepage.
- A Category, Topic or Keyword search performed from a Neighborhood homepage will return results solely from that Neighborhood.
- If you perform a Zip Code search, whether from a Neighborhood homepage or otherwise, that search will return all results for that Zip Code, regardless of Neighborhood.
